Breast Augmentation is surgical procedure designed to increase the size and enhance the shape of a woman’s breasts.
As a result of the procedure, many women have found it easier to dress in certain styles of clothing, and for some patients, not only can this procedure enhance your appearance, it may help build your self esteem.
Women have different reasons for undergoing breast augmentation. These include:
Women who feel their breasts are too small and are looking to improve their figure.
Women who have lost breast volume and shape as a result of pregnancy and nursing.
Women whose breasts have lost volume and shape as a result of aging.
Women who have had a significant difference in the sizes of both breasts.
Weight loss which has changed the shape and or size of your breasts.
Breast Augmentation can be performed using a saline filled implants, or silicone gel implants.
There are a number of different saline, and gel implants available. Implant shapes include round, tear drop, and “anatomic”. The texture of the implant shell include smooth and textured. The consistency of the implant gel varies from very soft and fluid to more firm, coherent gel, or “gummy bear”. These options, their advantages and disadvantages will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation.
The implant surgery can be placed above or below the pectoral muscle via a variety of incisions including, the armpit (transaxillary), above the breast fold, along the edge of the nipple (circumareolar), or through the umbilicus or “belly-button” (TUBA).
Problems with implants include deflation, rippling, change in position, scar capsules. Changes in breast and nipple sensation may also occur.
